Gold Star Mother Elizabeth Zaneri Named the 2026 Grand Marshal of Spirit of 1776 South Jersey Celebration
New Jersey, has been selected to serve as Grand Marshal of the Spirit of 1776 South Jersey Celebration this September.
The three-day celebration will take place September 18–20, 2026 in Egg Harbor Township as South Jersey comes together to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States.
The weekend's signature celebration takes place on Saturday, September 19, beginning with the Patriot Parade at 9:00 AM and followed by a Grand Inaugural Ceremony at 10:30 AM. Throughout the day, veterans, military members, first responders, families and community organizations will gather for a wide range of patriotic, historical and family-friendly activities. Admission to the celebration is free.
Elizabeth's role as Grand Marshal carries special meaning. As a Gold Star Mother, she represents families who have experienced the profound loss of a loved one in service to our country. Her participation places the sacrifice of Gold Star Families at the heart of a celebration centered on America's history, freedom and tradition of service.
