Another Successful GSSN Bronx Reunion held in Wildwood Crest
We blew it out of the park again this year at the annual GSSN Bronx Reunion celebrating the historic Arthur Avenue neighborhood in the Belmont section of Little Italy in the Bronx.
For generations, Arthur Avenue has been the heart of the Bronx’s Italian-American community, known for its family-owned markets, bakeries, restaurants, butcher shops and neighborhood businesses that have been passed down through generations. But for those of us who grew up there, Arthur Avenue was always about more than great food. It was about family, loyalty, friendship, tradition and a strong sense of community - the kind of place where everyone knew each other and the neighborhood became a part of who you were.
That same sense of family, friendship and community is exactly what we recreate each year at the GSSN Bronx Reunion, bringing old friends together, sharing stories and celebrating the neighborhood and traditions that still connect us today. It was another incredible weekend hosted by the gracious Madison Resort in Wildwood Crest and their Cape May restaurant, Harry’s Ocean Bar & Grille, were we bopped and strolled to the incomparable music of DJ Ken Schaffer of WIBG radio.
U.S. Congressman Jeff Van Drew’s office presented two Proclamations recognizing the work Gold Star Services Network has accomplished since it’s inception for the Gold Star Families community. It was an incredibly meaningful moment and a reminder that this weekend is about so much more than just a good time.
The GSSN Bronx Reunion is about celebrating the neighborhood we grew up in - the people, friendships, traditions and experiences that helped shape our lives - and just as importantly, it gives us an opportunity to support Gold Star Families who have lost a loved one during military service for our country.
Thank you again to everyone who attended, donated, danced, laughed and helped make this year’s GSSN Bronx Reunion as special as ever. We look forward to doing it all again real soon!
