Honoring Heroes at the Historic 66th Running of the Coca-Cola 600: A Memorial Day Tradition
Every Memorial Day weekend, the engines roar at Charlotte Motor Speedway as NASCAR fans gather to witness one of the sport’s most iconic events — the Coca-Cola 600 Miles of Remembrance. But this isn’t just a race. It's a moving tribute to the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.
This year marks the 66th running of the Coca-Cola 600, and it promises to be more powerful and patriotic than ever. Alongside the heart-pounding competition on the track, the event shines a spotlight on military appreciation, showcasing emotional ceremonies, stirring musical performances, and personal tributes that resonate beyond the grandstands.
A Tribute to the Fallen: FN Jeffrey M. Svoboda, USCG
One of the most heartfelt moments of the Coca-Cola 600 is the Miles of Remembrance — when each car carries the name of a fallen service member. Among those honored this year is FN Jeffrey M. Svoboda, U.S. Coast Guard, submitted by the Gold Star Siblings Network (GSSN).
Jeffrey was the beloved son of Patricia Bye, the New Jersey State President of Gold Star Mothers. His legacy will ride once more, this time down the straightaways of Charlotte Motor Speedway, surrounded by thunderous applause and grateful hearts.
His legacy will be honored by Kyle Busch on the #8 Chevy on race day!
More Than a Race
Before engines ignite, fans will be treated to an unforgettable pre-race concert by country music stars Old Dominion, setting the tone for a day of celebration and remembrance. There will also be appearances by NASCAR drivers and opportunities for fans to show their support for our military heroes.
In a fusion of speed, sound, and solemn remembrance, the Coca-Cola 600 continues to be a Memorial Day weekend tradition unlike any other.
Gold Star Services Network board members and partners will be at the race to offer support and remembrance. Stop by the HAAS racing team to say hello!
